Last night, we celebrated the golden birthday of our fabulous friend…Miss E. Obviously with my love of shimmer, golden birthdays are right up my alley…not to mention that I love an excuse to give a gift. I love searching high and low for the perfect gem and often pick things up along the way and months in advance if I know it is exactly right for someone. So in honor of Miss E on her golden…I present my very first gift guide:

1. Gold Sequin Scarf

This shimmery, shiny scarf by Ban.do is absolute perfection. It’s so perfect I can’t even talk about it…but I will. This is one of my fave go-to gifts…and the best part? It literally goes with everything. It sparkles up and polishes off any outfit! Miss E wore hers with sweats for day and an adorable ballerina skirt for night. Winner! And if you don’t know about Ban.do…familiarize yourself. seriously.

3. Sunshiney Throw

Very good friends of ours gave us this Gretel Home blanket as a wedding gift and it is perfect in so many ways – the bright color adds a little something special to any room and the pattern falls right in line with my love of fun geometric shapes. I also have to say it is the exact right size and weight. Not too warm, but just warm enough…and long enough! Hallelujah! Nothing bugs me more than having to choose between warm feet or warm arms and shoulders. Being on the taller side, this is an issue for me and this blanket is just the most perfect size.

4. Golden Animal Figurines

I don’t know about you, but I love bronzed, brassed and gilded animal figurines. I’m not sure what that’s about but how perfect are these Dwell Studio peacocks for a side table or a little fun at the dinner table? For me, these are the perfect kind of gift…a little bit random, a whole lot of adorable and if they are vintage…even better.

5. A Pair of Mugs

Who doesn’t love a good mug! I want to curl up with the blanket above and this Ferm Living harlequin mug full of hot chocolate and settle in for the night…probably to watch The Bachelor or Revenge…don’t judge. Wouldn’t you just feel so adorable with these in hand? At $30 a pop, they are a little pricey which puts them out of the range of something I would buy for myself…which makes them the perfect gift. And who doesn’t love being able to whip out a cute pair of mugs when a friend comes over for coffee!
